Privacy Policy — שבת חכם (Smart Shabbat)

The app lets you control your smart-home devices and schedule them around Shabbat and Jewish holidays. This page explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

• Account: your email address and password (the password is stored hashed; we cannot read it).
• Your home: home name, rooms, your devices and their state (on/off, temperature, power use…), measurement history, the routines you create and their run log.
• Location: the home's coordinates, used only to compute candle-lighting, Shabbat exit and other halachic times. The app asks for location access only while it is in use and does not collect location in the background.
• Device provider connections: to control your devices we connect to your accounts at device makers (e.g. Smart Life, eWeLink, Midea, AC Freedom, Roborock). Login details and credentials are stored encrypted on our servers or in the connection component we operate, and are used solely to control your devices.
• Household members: the email addresses of people invited to your home and their role (owner or member).

How we use it

• To run the app: show devices, send commands, run routines on our server, including the automatic Shabbat verification and retry.
• To compute Shabbat and holiday times for your home location.
• For security, troubleshooting and support.

We do not sell personal data, the app contains no advertising, and we use no third-party analytics or tracking.

Who it is shared with

• Infrastructure providers that run the service for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Google Cloud (server hosting) and a cloud server provider for the device connection component.
• The makers of the devices you connect (e.g. Tuya/Smart Life, eWeLink), only to control your devices.
• Household members you invite: they see the home's devices and routines according to their role. The owner can hide devices from members.
• Where required by law.

Data is transmitted encrypted (HTTPS).

Retention and deletion

Data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and all its data at any time: in the app (Settings → Account → Delete my account) or by following the instructions at /delete-account. Deletion removes your account, the homes in which you are the only member (with their devices, routines and history) and their provider connections. A shared home that you own requires transferring ownership first. Technical backups may persist for a short additional period.

Children

The app is not intended for children under 13.
